Who Am I?

I offer you a unique combination of business, psychotherapy and teaching skills and experience.

My formal education includes undergraduate studies in business and psychology with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, followed by a Master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. As a passionate learner I have also completed intensive post-graduate training in:

  • 6 month training in Dialectic Behavior Training from the Linehan Group
  • 6 months externship in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Beck Institute
  • Boot Camp Training in Acceptance Commitment Therapy through ACBS
  • 40 hours Mediation training through The Mediation Institute
  • One year of specialized Life Coach training from CoachU
  • Level 1,2 and 3 of Gottman Relationship training
  • 11 month certificate course in Positive Psychology through Kripalu and Wholebeing Institute
  • 8-week certificate course in Positive Psychology Coaching through Whole Being Institute
  • 6-week course with Barbara Fredrickson on Positive Psychology through Coursea/UNC Chapel Hill.
  • 3-month course in Acceptance Commitment Therapy with Russ Harris
  • 7-month positive psychology training in progress with The Flourishing Center

My professional career covers 15 years in sales, marketing and business management, and approaches 20 years in psychotherapy practice and instruction. The latter includes teaching Master’s level courses in individual therapy as adjunct professor, and conducting training and seminars in ethics in the workplace, stress management, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy.

While I value professional and formal education, I believe we are all wonderfully flawed, vulnerable human beings. Given guidance, skills and support, we continue to learn and grow throughout our lives. My overarching goal for those I work with is to help them live a wholehearted life, balanced through self-awareness and self-acceptance, and guided by their personal beliefs and standards.

I am a self-proclaimed therapy geek. I am enthusiastic about my profession and walk the talk. I have the experience, knowledge, skills and empathy to help those I work with learn, grow and thrive. I view the change process as a beautiful synthesis of the heart (emotion), head (intellect) and spirit (meaning). My style of therapy is highly interactive, collaborative, and firmly based in scientific research. I know that meaningful, sustained change can be achieved in a relatively short time.
